An AI Employee for Your Tax Office
Wizzy reads your clients' documents and preps the return alongside the software you already use. You review, you approve, you file — every return. Three facts explain everything else on this page.
SmartWiz is independent
We are an independent software company. SmartWiz is not affiliated with, partnered with, endorsed by, or built into any tax software provider, and we have never claimed to be. Wizzy is our own AI preparer, and it works for your office.
Wizzy works alongside the software you already run
Wizzy is software-agnostic. It works alongside whatever runs your office, on your side of the screen — the same way the AI tools you already use work alongside your computer. What Wizzy learns about how your practice works stays with you, even if you change programs.
You are still the preparer
Every return Wizzy prepares comes back to you to review, approve, and file. Nothing is submitted without you. That is the design of the product, not a disclaimer at the bottom of it.
Wizzy is a clerk, not an integration
Wizzy is not plugged into your tax software. It works on your side of the screen, in your account, under your direction, the way a data-entry clerk sitting in your office would — and you can watch it work the whole time. There is no contract between your clerk and the programs your office uses. They work for you, within the access you already have as the preparer. Wizzy is the same: you remain the software's user, and you review, approve, and file every return yourself.
On authorization, plainly
We do not have a contract or authorization agreement with any tax software provider, and we have never told anyone we do. We do not need one for the same reason your seasonal data-entry clerk does not need one: Wizzy acts for you, inside the access your own license already gives you.
Our legal counsel reviewed the terms of the programs Wizzy works alongside — tax software, CRMs, and form providers — and found no language prohibiting AI tools that assist the preparer. We would encourage you to read your own agreement too, and we are glad to walk through it with you rather than ask you to take our word for it.
What the IRS asks of you, Wizzy already assumes
In its June 2026 bulletin, the IRS asked preparers to independently review and verify AI-generated content — facts, calculations, eligibility determinations, and tax references — before relying on it or filing. That is exactly the workflow Wizzy is built around: it prepares, you verify, you approve, you file. Read the IRS bulletin.
Security, and what you can hand your file
Wizzy handles taxpayer data, so your diligence on us is appropriate — and expected. Client data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is role-based and least-privilege with multi-factor authentication, and we are independently audited to SOC 2 Type I. Our trust report is public and yours to share. Questions we have not answered here go to help@smartwiz.io, where a person answers them.
Questions Pros Ask Us
No. SmartWiz is an independent company and Wizzy works alongside your software rather than inside it. We are not a partner, an integration, or an approved add-on of any provider, and any claim otherwise did not come from us.
